DEPARTMENT MEMBERSHIP

The Jackson County Central Fire Department is always looking for new members to join our department and support their community.  We are a 100% volunteer department and currently offer numerous ways you can sign up and help us.  Listed below are some of our membership options we have.   

Active Firefighter

Active firefighters are the backbone of our department.  These members of our department who do and respond to all emergency incidents our department is paged to.  The minimum requirements to be considered and active firefighter is 18 years of age and complete the TN Fire Academy 16 hr Intro to Emergency Services, 64 hr Basic Firefighting and 22 hr Live Burn at the Fire Academy.  These members are also required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of training per year and maintain certain certifications such as CPR and Vanessa K Free Training.

Auxiliary Emergency Responder

Our support / medical personnel are required to attend the 16 hour introduction to emergency services class as well as a yearly Emergency Vehicle operations class as well as their CPR certification.  We also highly recommend our support personnel to be at least EMR certified so they are able to respond and participate in medical incidents our department responds to.  These members are not issued fire gear or permitted to participate in interior or active firefighting operations but are able to drive and operate the fire apparatus.  These personnel are also very instrumental in assisting and conducting our fire department fundraisers
